Rhode Island Hospital/Hasbro Children?s Hospital, located in Providence, RI is a private, 719-bed, not-for-profit hospital and academic medical center. Founded in 1863, Rhode Island Hospital is the state?s largest general acute care hospital and is a Level 1 Trauma Center. Rhode Island Hospital is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations and is Brown University's Warren Alpert Medical School primary teaching hospital.
In this role, you will be responsible for the performing a variety of diagnostic pulmonary function tests on patients using spirometers, gas analyzers, oximeters, and other equipment to evaluate and test for lung disease. When assisting a physician, you will obtain washing samples, tissue samples, and perform other procedures within the lung using bronchoscopes, biopsy forceps and other instruments. Responsible for full range of pulmonary function testing in infants, children, adolescents and young adults; instruction of patients, families and health care team members in respiratory therapy techniques and procedures; provide assistance in research protocol design and implementation.
Qualified candidates will have completion of High School plus an AMA approved Associate Degree Respiratory Therapy program, Certification or Registry, and a Respiratory Care Practitioner license in the State of Rhode Island. Knowledge of test procedures and reactions of patients while undergoing test procedures. Completion of a conscious sedation course. Three years experience in pulmonary function testing or 5 years experience in respiratory care, especially in a pediatric environment, is preferred.
